It seems like yesterday, yet we already miss the Sahara. From March 21st to 31st, the desert tested us with an intensity we will never forget: 44 Pandas from every corner of Europe—Italy, Belgium, Slovenia, Germany, Switzerland—challenged a Sahara more harsh and unpredictable than ever...
It was an intense edition, made of fine, dry sand, ready to suck you in at the slightest mistake, between medium-speed trials and dune navigation. The Pandas were welcomed back by the new inflatable arch: a landmark in the middle of nowhere, which made us feel at home in the evenings. Under that arch, an extraordinary humanity mingled: from absolute novices seeing the desert for the first time to veteran crews with the Dakar on their resumes. Yet, once the engines were turned on, the differences disappeared: on the dunes, our Pandas seemed like so many small radio-controlled models in an infinite playground.
The adventure held no compromises. Carlo had said: "Don't take the ciospi." Some couldn't resist, and a few flats quickly arose... But that's where the true spirit of the Miniotti Garage came out!
We witnessed epic scenes: lost bolts desperately searched for in the sand, Pandas lifted to change a tire in record time, and the help of the Tunisians who, on their slick-tired motorcycles, gave tips to the sand-stuck Panda riders on how to get going again...
Through all this, the Miniotti garage was an absolute must. A well-equipped and well-oiled paddock that never stopped, not even in Zmela, in the middle of nowhere, ensuring that every Panda was ready to go the next morning. All this was accompanied by the masterful work of the social media and media staff: photos, drones, onboard cams, and stabilizer arms captured every moment with cinematic quality, giving each participant an unforgettable memory.
Teamwork was the driving force of the event. The teams didn't just lead; they helped each other, picking up those who had gotten stuck or guiding those who, during the navigation tests, were definitely "hunting mushrooms." And when the day ended, the work continued at the hotel, with gear dismantled and carried to the room, carefully bundled up like newborns, to be repaired until late at night... However, the fatigue disappeared in the hospitality area, with music and a few ice-cold beers that tasted like a finish line achieved.
Beyond the challenge, however, remains the warmth of an extraordinary group. Dinner around the campfire and that magical silence of the desert that sinks into you remain. Ten days that flew by too quickly, leaving us with indelible memories and a deep nostalgia. We already miss the Sahara, but we're not standing still: our heads are already on the maps for the fifth edition...
The best is yet to come. Are you ready for 2027?
